Why choose CELTA over other certifications
There are many reasons why people choose to become an English language teacher. Some want to travel, live in new countries and immerse themselves in a new culture; others want to work with children or do a creative and exciting job. Choosing the right English language training course can be a challenge. There are so many different TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) courses to choose from. The question is, which one is best for you?
Here are 4 reasons why we recommend choosing the CELTA course:
1 - EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
CELTA is recognised and valued by language schools and educational institutions around the world. It is certified by Cambridge and regulated by Ofqual, the governing body that regulates qualifications in England. As it is the gold standard teaching qualification, it guarantees that your CV will be at the top of the list during the recruitment process.
2 - RIGOROUS TRAINING
Unlike many less in-depth courses, it will also provide you with the tools you need to continue learning independently, even after you have obtained your qualification. You will be guided and supported by your tutors, as well as completing at least 80 hours of self-study. This will also allow you to learn at your own pace and engage in self-reflection – an important part of your development as a teacher.
3 - NEW SKILLS AND SELF-CONFIDENCE
Unlike many other TEFL qualifications, the CELTA course involves supervised teaching practice. This experience will give you the opportunity to develop your teaching skills with real groups of students. It will also give you the confidence to enter a real classroom as soon as you have completed the course.
4 - CAREER ADVANCEMENT
CELTA is the perfect way to start your career as an English language teacher or to enhance the teaching skills you have already acquired. By offering a solid foundation in teaching methodology, CELTA will also pave the way for further qualifications. It can lead to DELTA, for example, which can open the door to even more exciting career opportunities.
Bonus
Starting this year, at the end of the course participants will have the opportunity to attend a workshop led by Gina Rodriguez.
Beyond your CV: building a professional online presence after CELTA to secure more and better jobs is the title of a workshop that the CELTA trainee will have the opportunity to attend to. This practical workshop is designed to help newly qualified English language teachers understand the importance of building a professional identity, both online and offline.
In today’s highly competitive ELT market, Language schools want to know whether you’ll be a good fit for their learners based on your attitude, values, and personality, which a CV alone can’t convey.
Before reaching out, schools are likely to check your online presence and your digital footprint will determine whether they call you for an interview or not.
Outline of the Workshop
1. What Is Personal Branding and Why It Matters in ELT
2. What Social Media Can (and Can’t) Do for Your ELT Career
3. Common Fears Debunked
4. Activity: How to Choose Your Platform
5. Content Pillars for Personal Branding in ELT
6. Activity: Build Your Kick-off Content Plan
7. The Anti-Burnout Method for Managing Social Media
Gina Rodriguez is a Language Education Marketing Consultant who helps language brands build and sustain an engaging online presence. She achieves this through customized strategies, expert training, and done-for-you services.
With over 25 years of experience in the ELT sector, Gina has held various roles, including qualified language teacher in Italy and abroad, teacher trainer, and sales and marketing consultant for major ELT publishers.

What is Anderson House?
Anderson House was founded in 1996 by Peter Anderson, an English teacher with more than 40 years of experience.
In the early years of the school's existence, the teaching of English and other major world languages focused mainly on groups or individuals – that is the private sector.
While in later years, the focus shifted to companies. Anderson House thus consolidated its presence in the Bergamo area in corporate language training with excellent results and clients such as Tenaris Dalmine, Gewiss, Imetec. Listening to the needs and continuously updating on methodologies and tools have led us to develop a wide range of teaching services.
A constant commitment to quality has also allowed us to represent major brands of language certifications. From 2004 to 2018 we were a BULATS Centre, a certification now replaced by LINGUASKILL, for which we are agents. Since 2007 we have been a TOEFL Centre and since 2008 a CAMBRIDGE Centre.
We have been running CELTA courses since 2019. Anderson House is the largest provider of language certifications in the Bergamo area.

WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR CELTA?
In order to qualify to attend a CELTA course, you need to be at least 18 years old. You also need to have an awareness of English and a competence in both written and spoken language. This does not mean the center assesses your English level, or that native speakers are automatically accepted, but it does mean you need to have at least a C1+ level and be aware of the English language systems. It is highly recommended you have basic computer equipment, such as a laptop, with a good internet connection as we share all documents using cloud services. Finally, you need to have a high school leaving certificate, which demonstrates that you are ready to begin a university level course.
DO I NEED TO HAVE TEACHING EXPERIENCE PRIOR TO STARTING A CELTA COURSE?
No. CELTA is a good entry course for people who have little or no experience teaching English to speakers of other languages. It is also suitable for candidates with some experience but little formal ELT training.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?
CELTA is awarded to candidates who have completed the course and have met the assessment criteria for all written and practical assignments. This means the successful candidate will have completed 6 hours of teaching practice and passed four written assignments. The tutors on the course assess the CELTA candidates. The final grades are awarded after a discussion with an external course moderator assigned by Cambridge.
HOW CAN I GET TO ANDERSON HOUSE?
The center is easily accessible by car, public transportation and even bicycles and scooters. There is a parking lot directly in front of and behind the building, which always has available spaces. There are bus stops nearby with buses 9A and 9B going to the centre of Bergamo as well as in the direction of the villages and wider Lombardy. If you are flying, Bergamo has an international airport called Orio or Bergamo Milan. The school is a 10-minute drive from the airport and is served by buses to Bergamo town. Alternatively, the two other Milan airports are Linate (40-minute drive) and Malpensa (1h15-drive). There are coaches from these airports to the Bergamo airport or bus and train from Linate and two trains from Malpensa. If you come by train from Milan the better route is via Lambrate and Treviglio and the train takes between 45 minutes and an hour. If you are driving, leave the A4 motorway at Bergamo or Dalmine. If you leave at Bergamo take the dual carriageway to Lecco and leave at the Longuelo exit. If you leave at Dalmine, take the dual carriageway to Val Brembana, then take the Crema/Lovere exit, take the dual carriageway and leave at Curno or Longuelo.
